There is but One God who consists of Three Persons in a Devine Mystery
reflected in the mystic union of husband and wife. God had no beginning and
will have no end and is the Creator of all things.
God created a perfect world and a perfect universe in which all things were
in harmony through love freely offered. Love cannot be offered unless there
is the possibility it can be withheld. This harmony was marred when the
highly exalted archangel Lucifer coveted the yet higher position of Godhood
and became Satan.
Thus sin entered the universe through pride and selfish grasping. God gave
our first parents a perfect world, withholding only one tree. Satan tempted
Adam and Eve that by eating of this tree they could become like God. They
fell for the temptation and sin entered our world.
To save us from destruction, Christ—God the Son—took on our fallen, sinful
nature and through dependence on God the Father He met each sin we may meet
and overcame. The sinless Son of God then offered Himself as a sacrifice for
our sins.
Having met sin in the flesh and having overcome, Jesus is able to offer this
power to us. To deny that Christ took on our sinful nature after the Fall is
to deny that He met and overcame the same sins we must meet and overcome and
hence He would have no power to offer us in overcoming sin. It is the
Antichrist who teaches Jesus took on Adam’s
nature before the Fall.
The Bible is the Inspired Word of God given for our instruction and
guidance.
Since it was written for our guidance, it follows that we are expected to
heed the things written therein. Thus, we are to keep the Ten Commandments.
This includes setting aside our worldly pursuits at sunset on Friday and
spending the next 24 hours in communion with our Lord as commanded by the
Sabbath commandment and as was done by Jesus and the Apostles.
With sin came death. Death is the opposite of life. The idea that we
continue to live after we die was the Devil’s first lie (Gen. 3:4,5). If it
were true that we go to Heaven when we die, would we not congratulate one
another and tell the grieving family that we’re so glad to hear their loved
one died? There are no happy funerals.
The Bible speaks of death as a sleep. Christ will awaken the righteous dead
at His Second Coming while the unrighteous will continue to sleep for a
thousand years then they, too, shall be resurrected—but to face the
Judgment.
The Universe of unfallen beings needed to know what sin would do. Therefore,
God has permitted our fallen world to develop that they—and we—might
understand the consequences of breaking God’s Law. The result has been a
world of woe and sorrow.
At this time the records of all who sleep in their graves are being
examined. God already knows who is saved and who is lost, but the rest of
the Universe must be satisfied that those deemed righteous will not bring
the sorrow and misery of sin to them.
God will not always suffer this experiment
with sin. The Second Coming of Christ is at hand. This will not be a secret
marked by the mysterious disappearance of some good church-going folk. The
Bible tells us that “every eye shall see Him” and that it will be “as the
lightning that shineth from the east even to the west.” The wicked living
will be slain by the brightness of His coming and the righteous dead will be
raised to life everlasting. We will then be caught up and taken to Heaven
where, for the next thousand years, we shall all have a chance to examine
the books to learn for ourselves why some people have been saved while
others were lost. At the end of this time we and our Lord shall return to
this Earth and the unrighteous shall receive the Judgment. The wicked will
not burn for the ceaseless ages of Eternity, writhing in pain and agony
unimaginable.
Rather, the Bible tells us they will become ashes and will be no more. When
the Bible speaks of “forever” it means “without interruption”. Afterward
this Earth will be re-created in its original glory and the righteous will
live forever—without interruption.
For our present life, God wishes us good health and asks that we care for
our bodies as temple of the Holy Ghost. This includes the avoidance of
alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine. A Christian should at a minimum follow the
dietary instructions in Leviticus 11 avoiding the eating of unclean meats
such as pork—but this is only a minimum and in these last days all flesh
food should be avoided.
The Lord has always given His people the
guidance of His Holy Spirit. Mostly this is the sudden remembrance of
passages of Scripture we have read, or a sense that something needs to be
done. But occasionally—at our Lord’s discression—certain
individuals receive such clear and detailed messages and in such number that
they have the gift of prophecy. Ellen G. White was such an individual and
her writings are a guide we value highly.
